Overview

ABOUT THIS COURSE

Anaphylaxis is one of the most serious medical emergencies that can occur in a clinical setting — particularly in dental practices, GP surgeries and aesthetic clinics where injectable treatments and allergens are routinely encountered. The Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Adult Basic Life Support and Management of Anaphylaxis in Clinical Practice (RQF) combines full clinical BLS training with comprehensive anaphylaxis management, designed to assist clinical practices in meeting the requirements of the Resuscitation Council (UK) Quality Standards.

Delivered by National Training Hub — a Qualsafe registered centre (No. 907979) — this qualification is designed to give clinical staff the skills to respond to both cardiac emergencies and severe allergic reactions in a professional healthcare context.

Annual renewal: Following Resuscitation Council (UK) Quality Standards guidance for clinical settings, this certificate is valid for 1 year and must be renewed annually.

FAQ

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is this course suitable for a dental practice?

Yes. This is one of the most relevant clinical BLS courses for dental practices, which face both anaphylaxis risk from local anaesthetics and latex and cardiac emergency risk from anxious or medically compromised patients. It is designed to assist clinical practices in meeting the requirements of the Resuscitation Council (UK) Quality Standards and covers all five core clinical scenarios.

Does the course cover adrenaline auto-injector use?

Yes. Correct administration of adrenaline via an auto-injector (such as an EpiPen) is a core part of the anaphylaxis scenario in this course. You will practise with a training device during the session.

Why is this certificate only valid for 1 year?

Clinical BLS certificates carry a 1-year validity following Resuscitation Council (UK) Quality Standards guidance, which requires annual renewal for all clinical staff. Non-clinical BLS courses carry a 3-year certificate.
