ABOUT THIS COURSE
If your First Aid at Work certificate is approaching its three-year expiry date, you must requalify before it lapses — or your regulated qualification will lapse and you will no longer hold a valid first aid certificate.
The Qualsafe Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (RQF) Requalification is the efficient, Ofqual regulated two-day course that renews your qualification and brings your skills fully up to date with the latest first aid techniques and Resuscitation Council (UK) guidance. National Training Hub delivers this requalification course at your workplace or a convenient location nationwide across England and Wales.
WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR?
This course is for qualified first aiders who hold — or have recently held — a valid First Aid at Work (FAW) certificate and need to renew it before the three-year expiry date. It is ideal for designated first aiders in:
- Care homes and healthcare settings
- Construction sites
- Schools and educational establishments
- Offices and manufacturing facilities
- Any England and Wales business where first aid cover is a legal requirement
Employers across all sectors will find this requalification course essential for maintaining continuous, compliant first aid provision without putting staff through the full three-day course again.
WHAT YOU'LL LEARN
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Reaffirm the roles and responsibilities of a workplace first aider and apply current best practice in line with the HSE syllabus.
- Conduct a safe scene survey and primary survey, and call for appropriate emergency assistance.
- Perform adult CPR to the current Resuscitation Council (UK) standard, with correct AED pad placement and use of a defibrillator.
- Place an unresponsive, breathing casualty into the recovery position and maintain airway monitoring.
- Recognise and treat a choking casualty using back blows and abdominal thrusts.
- Manage wounds, life-threatening external bleeding, and hypovolaemic shock.
- Provide first aid for fractures, dislocations, sprains, strains, head injuries, and spinal injuries.
- Recognise and respond to serious medical conditions including heart attack, stroke, epileptic seizure, asthma, anaphylaxis, and diabetic emergencies.
- Treat burns and scalds and manage common minor workplace injuries.
- Apply any updated first aid guidance issued since your previous qualification.
COURSE OVERVIEW
The FAW Requalification is delivered over two full days, providing a minimum of 12 guided learning hours. Because this course is designed for experienced first aiders who are already familiar with the core subjects, the training builds efficiently on existing knowledge rather than starting from scratch.
The programme combines practical scenario-based exercises with focused theory refreshers, and assessment is integrated throughout the two days — candidates complete multiple-choice question papers and observed practical assessments as part of normal course delivery.
Classes are capped at a maximum of 12 delegates, giving everyone sufficient hands-on practice time. Our instructors take an encouraging, experienced approach that quickly restores confidence in delegates whose skills may have become a little rusty since their last course.
ACCREDITATION & CERTIFICATION
This requalification course leads to the Qualsafe Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (RQF), awarded by Qualsafe Awards — the UK's largest and most trusted Ofqual regulated awarding organisation for first aid qualifications.
The qualification meets the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) training standard for First Aid at Work and satisfies the requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981. On successful completion, delegates receive a fresh Qualsafe Awards certificate valid for three years.
National Training Hub is a Qualsafe registered centre (Centre No. 907979).
WHY CHOOSE NATIONAL TRAINING HUB?
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Do I need to bring my existing First Aid at Work certificate?
Yes. All candidates should produce evidence of their current or recently expired First Aid at Work certificate. If your certificate has already expired, please speak to us before booking — we may recommend the full three-day course instead.
Can someone attend if they have never done first aid before?
No. This requalification course is exclusively for people who have previously completed a full First Aid at Work course. If you do not hold a prior FAW certificate, please enquire about our full three-day First Aid at Work course instead.
Can you deliver the requalification at our workplace?
Yes. National Training Hub regularly delivers on-site requalification courses at businesses nationwide across England and Wales. We bring all equipment and materials to your premises. Contact us to arrange suitable dates.
How many people can attend at one time?
Up to 12 delegates per trainer session. If you have more first aiders to requalify, we can run additional sessions on the same or consecutive days.
What happens if a delegate does not pass?
Delegates who do not achieve the required standard will receive detailed feedback. There is a referral window within the registration period during which they may be reassessed. In some cases, the full three-day course may be recommended — our trainers will provide clear guidance.
