ABOUT THIS COURSE
When a child in your care needs urgent help, being a qualified paediatric first aider could make all the difference. The Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (RQF) is a fully regulated, two-day qualification specifically designed to meet the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Statutory Framework.
This course gives childcare professionals, nursery staff, and registered childminders the skills and confidence to respond to a wide range of paediatric first aid emergencies. National Training Hub, a Qualsafe registered centre, delivers this course with expert, hands-on instruction tailored to the real situations you face in your setting.
WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR?
This course is designed for anyone who works with, or is responsible for, infants and children and needs a full paediatric first aid certificate. It is particularly relevant for:
- Early years practitioners and nursery workers who have gained a Level 2 or Level 3 childcare qualification and need to be counted in EYFS staff-to-child ratios
- Registered childminders and childminding assistants who are required by the EYFS framework to hold a current and full paediatric first aid certificate
- Teaching assistants, school support staff, and out-of-school club leaders nationwide across England and Wales
- Nannies, foster carers, and anyone with a professional responsibility for the welfare of infants and children
Entry requirements: No formal first aid entry requirements โ delegates simply need to be at least 14 years old and able to carry out practical tasks at floor level.

COURSE OVERVIEW
The Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (RQF) is delivered over two full days, providing a minimum of 12 guided learning hours across two units: Unit 1 covers Emergency Paediatric First Aid, and Unit 2 covers Managing Paediatric Illness, Injuries and Emergencies.
Each day combines clear, accessible theory with plenty of practical, hands-on activity โ you will spend significant time practising infant and child CPR on manikins, managing choking scenarios with training devices, applying slings, and working through realistic emergency scenarios.
Assessment is integrated across both days: delegates complete seven observed practical assessments and two multiple-choice question papers (15 questions for Unit 1 and 25 questions for Unit 2). Classes are capped at a maximum of 12 delegates per trainer, ensuring every delegate has adequate hands-on practice time and individual feedback.
